International Whore's Day 2025

2025 marked the 50th anniversary of International Whores’ Day and in Portland, it became something historic in its own right. For the first time, Haymarket Pole Collective, Sex Worker Resource Project, and Oregon Safer Worker Coalition came together to co-host a community celebration led entirely by sex workers.

As the three sex worker-led advocacy organizations in Portland, this collaboration was a reminder of the power of collective organizing, mutual support, and public celebration of our communities.

The event honored the legacy of International Whores’ Day while creating space for joy, visibility, and connection. Community members gathered for an evening filled with music, pole performances, local sex worker vendors, art, conversation, and celebration. The atmosphere was vibrant, welcoming, and deeply grounded in the creativity and resilience of sex workers across Portland.

More than anything, the event reflected what becomes possible when sex workers lead: safer spaces, stronger community ties, political solidarity, and room for pleasure and self-expression alongside advocacy work.

We’re proud to have marked this milestone together and excited for what future collaborations will bring.
